The material used will depend on why you are having the crown.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-sm-4\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-254\" src=\"http:\/\/armadaledentalcare.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/crowns-info-2-300x212.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/armadaledentalcare.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/crowns-info-2-300x212.jpg 300w, https:\/\/armadaledentalcare.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/crowns-info-2.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-8\">Whether you choose to have a crown to improve the shape and alignment of your teeth or to strengthen your tooth, the procedure is the same.<br \/>\nTwo appointments are necessary, the first to prepare the tooth for the crown and the second to fit the crown.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>The preparation appointment<\/h3>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-sm-4\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"height: 95px; width: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/armadaledentalcare.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/crowns-info-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Pre-Treatment<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-4\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"height: 95px; width: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/armadaledentalcare.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/crowns-info-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>During Treatment<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-4\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"height: 101px; width: auto; padding-top: 5px;\" src=\"http:\/\/armadaledentalcare.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/crowns-info-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Completion<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"float: right; text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>A local anaesthetic may be need to numb the tooth and surrounding gum<\/li>\n<li>The dentist will then shape the outer surfaces of the tooth, creating a cylindrical shape onto which the crown will seat.<\/li>\n<li>An impression (mould) is taken of your teeth using special dental &#8220;putty&#8221;generally made from silicone. The putty is placed into an impression tray; they are both then inserted into your mouth and pushed over your teeth in order to take an impression. Once the dental putty is set, the impression will be removed.\u00a0 An impression is also taken of the opposing teeth, so the technician can see how you bite together<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0A temporary crown will be cemented onto the prepared tooth to protect it whilst your crown is being fabricated.<\/li>\n<li>The impression will be sent to the Dental Laboratory where our technician will handcraft your crown. This will take between two and three weeks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>The \u201cFitting\u201d Appointment<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>A local anaesthetic may be need to numb the tooth and surrounding gum<\/li>\n<li>The temporary crown will be removed and the tooth will be washed to remove the temporary cement.<\/li>\n<li>The dentist will then try in your new crown, making sure that it fits correctly and that you are happy with the appearance. The crown will then permanently cemented in place.
